WindPole Ventures instruments its very tall towers with conventional cup anemometers and wind vanes. All components (redundant sensors at 40/60/80 meters, very long booms and robust communication systems) are selected considering Annex G of IEC 61400-12-1.
Instrumentation Location
WindPole’s standard instrument configuration places redundant anemometers on two separate booms at 40/60/80 meters (and higher) to ensure data with no wind shadow effect. Direction and temperature sensors are at two different levels, with pressure at the base station.
Instrumentation/Sensor Types
To address investor demand for industry standard sensor packages, WindPole equips all sites with Measnet calibrated cup anemometers and industry standard wind vanes. All sensors are further tested at WindPole’s lab prior to field deployment.
In addition, WindPole is testing ultrasonic sensors to address our client’s needs for real-time data uninterrupted by icing or ice damage. These sensors are armored, heated and promise longer up-time. Sensor choices are designed to meet investor scrutiny in due diligence.
